About Us

Bumblebird is the art of Troy Custer.

Raised on the music, movies, pop culture, and larger-than-life imagination of the '70s and '80s, Troy's path into art was shaped by an unusual mix of influences. An expressive Italian mother, a private investigator father with an analytical mind, an education from nuns, and life in the Pacific Northwest all combined to create a perspective that blends creativity with curiosity, humor with mystery, and craftsmanship with experimentation.

That blend eventually led Troy to art school, where he studied graphic design before building a career that spanned multiple industries. Along the way, he developed a passion for combining traditional artistic techniques with emerging technologies, always searching for new ways to bring ideas to life.

Today, Bumblebird is where those worlds collide.

Every piece begins with an idea—a sketch, photograph, scribbled note, or voice memo—and evolves through a combination of graphic design, digital tools, and hands-on craftsmanship. The result is a collection of works crafted from metal, wood, fabric, and paper, along with journals, art prints, cards, stickers, and other objects inspired by mythical creatures, cryptids, extraterrestrials, expressive animals, pop culture, and the wonderfully strange.

Whether a piece makes you laugh, feel slightly unsettled, or simply stop and look a little closer, that's the point. Bumblebird exists to celebrate the unconventional and to create art that is imaginative, beautifully crafted, and just a little unexpected.
